How to record your swing

Two minutes of setup makes the difference between “decent guess” and “wow, that's exactly what my coach said.”

Watch the setup in under a minute — then follow the checklist below

Camera settings (iPhone)

  • Settings → Camera → Record Slo-mo → 1080p at 240 fps
  • Record in Slo-mo mode (not regular video) for the most accurate tempo
  • Android: use the highest frame-rate slow-motion mode your phone offers
  • Minimum requirement: 720p — below that, analysis may fail

Position the camera

  • Tripod (or a friend) at hip height — not on the ground
  • 8–10 feet (2.5–3 m) away from you
  • Face-on: camera faces your chest, square to your stance line
  • Down-the-line: camera behind your hands, aiming at the target
  • Keep the phone level — a tilted camera skews angle measurements

Framing

  • Your FULL body must be visible for the entire swing — head to feet, including the club at the top
  • Stand roughly centered in frame
  • One golfer in frame — other people confuse the tracker

Light & background

  • Daylight or bright range lighting works best
  • Avoid shooting directly into the sun or strong backlight
  • Wear clothing that contrasts with the background
  • Avoid busy backgrounds with moving people or nets blowing in wind

The clip

  • One swing per video
  • 5–15 seconds is ideal (max 30 s) — a moment of address, the swing, the finish
  • MP4 or MOV, up to 200 MB
  • Trim in your Photos app before uploading to keep processing fast

If an analysis fails we'll tell you exactly why (too dark, body cut off, etc.) and the attempt won't count against your monthly quota.
